What is my “why”? Everything we do in life traces back to our “why.”
I’m a recent graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia (class of 2022), from the home town of Greensboro, North Carolina. Faithfully following Christ growing up in Greensboro, college was an amazing time for me to grow in my relationship with the creator of the universe. While attending R-MC, I was an orientation leader and student mentor, deeply invested in campus ministry through InterVarsity, played for the basketball program there, and finished my schooling with a degree in biology. And God’s hand was over ALL OF IT. My time in college was one of experiencing God as the Perfect Father, my best friend, and our necessary savior.
My time playing basketball for the college was where I experienced my call to ministry. From a young hopeful hooper, I was able to become a starter by junior year and a captain of the team in my final year. While playing for the school, I acquired a record of 118-15, with three conference titles, and one national championship in my final year. And as good as all those numbers are, it is nothing compared to the good gifts God has given me off the court with this team.
Randolph-Macon basketball went from a team with only one Christ follower (me), to a team of eight men fervently praying to God in the locker room, studying the Word of the Lord, and praying with the opposing team before and after games. It has been a blessing to watch God surround me with brothers who want to serve and worship Him just as much as I do.
"Through Christ, I have strength, freedom from all fears, and a love and a peace that transcends understanding." 2 Timothy 1:7 states that “the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” That is my “why.” I want to share the good gifts God wants to give His children and offer others into a relationship with Jesus Christ. That is why I am here.
